Hello Backstage Crew We survived another Gwar Concert. Just a sample of the Coo Coo Madness. George Bush Blood Bath, The Awful always Shocking Nazi Pope round 2, TRex Monster Mash,The Show was amazing.MachineHead rocked the Hometown - first Sounds of the Underground Performance. Yet again another brilliant concert lineup. Sounds of The Underground. Me and my buddy arrive there at I would say 3:30, unfourtanatley we had missed Job for a Cowboy,Evergreen Terrace and perhaps a couple more bands that had started earlier. Which was not so good seeing as how I really wanted to watch a couple of those bands, but anyways. We get inside and I'm thinking Ohhhhh Metal all the wayyyyyy, we start to walk around as always, which has now turned into a habit upon entering a concert at Shoreline.
Me and Stock walk around to see whats up and what's happening sort of deat. The usual food lines and people, only everyone around was a metal head. Ohhh now that's what I would call heaven. So we head on up to the stage and see the band that was playing at the moment. Good crowd and good people at that particular set. It ends, good stuff. We start to walk around various parts of the venue, I became a designated driver that day. haha.
So I start asking around to different people and most of my freinds questions, questions pertaining to As I Lay Dying. What types of things would they ask upon given the chance, So I came up with some pretty decent questions. So the day rolls on and we go off and on between the stage and the booths and walking around. We catch Terror play. Good band, lots of fans I would say, and they did a pretty kick butt job as far as I'm concerned, thier energy and such was intact. We continure to walk about and then....My first interview. As I Lay Dying with Jordan, drummer of the band.
I went in very nervous but as I got more of a feel to it I got more used to the surrounding and I was like, all it isn't worth getting all hyped up for. Backstage and all. Still uber cool though.
So I begin my interview and It goes actually pretty well, considering it was my very first interview ever. I would not think it was a total trainwreck at all.
So the interview ends and I'm very satisfied and i head off on my way. I meet up with my buddies again and we head on over to the stage. In Flames is set to go on next, Now I am a fan of this band so I was looking forward to this band, So let me tell you I was pretty eager to see them.
So the show starts and jeez this guy can scream, Thier live perfomance was excellent very technical and full of energy, the crowd really seemed to enjoy this band aswell.
So they finish up thier amazing set and then intermission. Yet again me and my buddies head out to see whats up. Became a designated driver, got free drinks. Mmmmmm ahh the best.
So then Machinehead is up. I love love love this band.
So I rushed my way up to the stage as soon as they started playing. Very good band, Energy level was high and thier music and sound is excellent live. Machinehead has to be one of my favorite bands. That's for shure.
So Machine head plays and rounds off thier set. The singer in this band is so amazing and so talented. As I lay Dying is up next and the whole crowd is ready for them. They are the main event and ready for anything. So they start thier set and the crowd goes insane. Dancing and moshing and hardcore dancing all around. Now I was standing on the front lines seeing all of this go down. Thier was a decent amount of Hardcore Kids and just an equal amount of Metal Heads.
They played 'Through the Darkest Night' when they played this song all my freinds started shouting and crying and dancing at the same time. That song was Kevis's favorite song by his all time favorite band, As I lay Dying. R.I.P Kevis Halphen.
So this particular concert and set was very special to me and all of my freinds. The madness of all the hardcore kids, Metal Heads, free drinks, diverse situations and akward happenings and great new firsts of all sorts was so worth it. Sounds of The Underground this year was amazing.
